Education

Portage has a high quality and achieving school system. Portage Township Schools were recently named an “A” rated school system by the Indiana Department of Education. Our school system is comprised of eight elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school with a total enrollment of approximately 7,800 students. We also provide plenty of opportunities for technical, secondary and post-secondary education.

Portage Township High School
Portage prides itself in educating students for tomorrow’s success. Portage Township High School was recently awarded a Grade “A” by the Indiana Department of Education. We  also work with our area schools to ensure students are aware they don’t need to look far for secondary education and employment opportunities after high school.

Porter County Career & Technical Education 
The Porter County Career and Technical Education facility is a cooperative effort of 10 area high schools, providing high quality, effective, workforce and technical educational programs that prepare students for a specialized career.

Post-Secondary Educational opportunities are limitless from the recently completed Portage Downtown University Center to one of the many regional college campuses in the area.
